Derek J. Hartmann, D.C., Cert. MDT, C.S.C.S.
Head chiropractic physician and President of The Hart Wellness Center. Dr. Hartmann was born and raised in the Homewood-Flossmoor area. He was a graduate of Homewood-Flossmoor High School where he became a 6-time state champion gymnast. He went on to attend The University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana on a Chick Evans Caddy Scholarship where his major was Sports Medicine and Kinesiology. He then attended The National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, Illinois. He was awarded a second Bachelors degree in Human Biology and eventually went on to receive his Doctorate in Chiropractic Medicine. He has been practicing the skill, art and science of chiropractic locally for a decade. Dr. Hartmann specializes in the treatment of disc injuries of the neck and lower back, extremity problems and uses innovative ways to bring healing to difficult cases. He is credentialed by the International McKenzie Institute and practices the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy. Currently, he is 1 of less than 100 chiropractors in the United States that holds this certification. He performs Functional Dry Needling and is also full-body certified in Fascial Distortion Model. Golf is both a personal and professional passion of his and he is a certified Titleist Performance Institute provider, which focuses on specific fitness and performance aspects of the golf swing. Dr Hartmann’s philosophy in practice is simple…patient education, self-treatment strategies and being proficient in manual therapy techniques. What results should I expect when I see Dr. Hartmann? For every new patient that enters our office, we expect complete resolution of your symptoms in less than 6 visits.

Garrett J. Zavesky, D.C.
Dr. Garrett J. Zavesky graduated from National University of Health Sciences in December 2020. He has been a part of The Hart Wellness Center since 2016 where he shadowed and clinically trained as a student. He graduated from Marian Catholic High School in 2013 where he was a member of the golf and lacrosse teams. After high school, he attended DePaul University where he graduated cum laude with a degree in Health Sciences and was a student manager for the men’s DePaul Blue Deamons basketball team. As a team manager, Dr. Zavesky worked daily with collegiate and professional athletes which helped him develop his passion for basketball and treating the human body. He is an avid basketball player who has dealt with various injuries and wishes to help athletes of any level prevent or recover from similar incidents. His goal is to find the root cause of pain, support the patient through the recovery process, and assist the patient with getting back to the activities they were not able to do before. Dr. Zavesky uses chiropractic manipulation, fascial distortion, the Mckenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy, functional dry needling, and rehabilitation exercises to work with patients to help alleviate pain. He is certified in Functional Dry Needling and has successfully completed part A and B of the Mckenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy.

Kevin J. Curtin, D.C.
Dr. Curtin graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine from National University of Health Sciences. While maintaining a private practice in is hometown of Homer Glen, IL, and providing practice coverage for vacationing and sick doctors, he was given an opportunity to teach Anatomy and Physiology at South Suburban College in South Holland, IL on a part-time basis. After his first week of teaching, he knew that he wanted to make a career out of educating students. Following a yearlong assignment as an adjunct instructor of Anatomy and Physiology, he was afforded the opportunity to join the Clinical Sciences Department at National University of Health Sciences as a full-time faculty. In 2016, Dr. Curtin was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor of Clinical Sciences. He is the co-author of a truly innovative video book series titled Advanced Manipulation: Theory and Technique. In November of 2013, Dr. Curtin joined The Hart Wellness Center where he offers a combination of biomedical acupuncture/functional dry needling and gentle comprehensive chiropractic care to his patients. His clinical interest includes management of chronic pain with electro acupuncture.

Amy Lambert, LMT – Massage Therapist
Amy joined The Hart Wellness Center in 2011. She has been practicing massage since graduating from Redfern Training Systems School of Massage Therapy in 1997. She brings many years experience from the spa industry and specializes in deep tissue massage. She has a wide variety of experience in clinical bodywork, athletes, Swedish and geriatric massage, and hot stone massage techniques.
Roma Maghirang, RN, LMT – Massage Therapist
Roma joined The Hart Wellness Center in December of 2020. As a registered nurse, Roma brings medical, anatomical and clinical manual therapy skills to the massage table. She is a recent graduate of The Soma Institute.
Candace Zavoral – Office Manager
Candace joined The Hart Wellness Center in 2010. She provides a friendly and outgoing personality at the front desk and makes everyone feel warm and welcome. She brings many years of practice operation experience from working in the dental industry. She has a thorough knowledge of insurance, billing and coding to make a stress-free patient experience.
