KIDS AND CHIROPRACTIC
Frederick Douglas once said, “It is easier to build strong children than it is to repair broken men.” This summarizes in once sentence the impact that chiropractic can have on common pediatric disorders. During the last weekend in August, Dr. Derek Hartmann traveled to Tulsa, OK for a pediatric chiropractic seminar that covered various topics including technique and management of common conditions. Chiropractic care from birth can be a SAFE and effective way to naturally stimulate their delicate nervous systems. There is a tremendous amount of trauma that a newborn goes through during the birthing process. The baby then has to hold a large head on an unstable and weak neck. This can cause stress on the joints of the neck. As they begin crawling and walking, there are falls and stresses on the lower back and hips and pelvis. We are learning more about the long-term effects of prolonged exposure to antibiotics as children. It is leading to more and more infections and even asthma as these children develop and grow. Common pediatric conditions that can be positively impacted by chiropractic include, but are not limited to inner ear infections, colic, asthma, nursing dysfunction, constipation, headaches, and neurological disorders such as autism, ADD and ADHD. Pediatricians can only do so much to help these children and chiropractors have the ability and responsibility to make a positive impact on their growth and development. As chiropractors, we are simply complementing the care give by your pediatricians. We locate joints that aren’t moving correctly, and when they are not moving correctly, the nervous system doesn’t work optimally at that level. Once we restore movement to these joints, we restore optimal nervous system function and these children heal themselves. Please call or stop by if you or someone you know would like to learn more about kids and chiropractic!
By the age of 20, nearly 80% of us have some kind of foot problem, and by age 40 almost all of us do. Foot problems become more obvious in cases of obesity, structural deformities and injuries. Chiropractic care combined with proper support using custom-made orthotics (shoe inserts) can help correct foot problems, but also can have profound effects on knee, hip and lower back pain.

THOUGHT OF THE MONTH
“The secret to success…to gaining it, to having it, is to give, give, give. The secret to getting is giving. And the secret to giving is making yourself open to receiving. Remember, the more you have, the more you have available to give.”
